I'm participating in Stars of Hastings
to embrace the opportunity to support the Cancer Council and people affected by cancer.
I figure that as uncomfortable as I will be on a stage it is nothing compared to those facing cancer.
I am a married (to Connie) father of three girls and I manage/own Watershed Insurance Brokers.
In my spare time I like to get involved with swimming, waterskiing, swimming and fishing, plus a bit of tinkering on my guitar.
Cancer has affected our lives in numerous ways, both Connie’s parents died from cancer, her Mum fairly recently and her Dad back in 2001.
My mother had bowel cancer when I was 18 and had a significant operation to remove it.
My brother Adrian had a very serious fight with cancer back in 2012 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 neck and head cancer. He was advised best case scenario he would lose sight in both his eyes. After some very aggressive treatment including having to feed through a tube for 12 months he has since gone into remission and did fortunately not lose his eyesight at all!
Our beloved golden retriever was also diagnosed with terminal cancer just prior to Christmas. It was a tough and merciful decision to recently have him put down.
