Dr Aimee Silla | Science, Medicine & Health UOW
Meet Aimee, a dedicated reproductive biologist whose passion for both science and conservation is truly inspiring. Specializing in frog fertility, Aimee is making a huge impact on the conservation of endangered species, particularly through innovative hormone therapies, cryopreservation, and IVF – yes, IVF for frogs! These groundbreaking efforts have led to the successful breeding and wild release of over 800 Northern Corroboree frogs and 1,500 Baw Baw frogs in Australia.
With over 60 scientific publications and a leadership role in editing a pivotal book on reproductive technologies for amphibian conservation, Aimee is a driving force in the field. Aimee's work has earned her recognition, including the City of Wollongong's Innovation Achievement Award.
But when she's not immersed in frog research, you'll find Aimee dancing at Zumba! A lover of dance from a young age, Aimee studied flamenco as a child and still embraces the strength and passion of the art form today. With an infectious enthusiasm for both science and dance, Aimee is excited to bring her passion for movement to this charity event and support a great cause.
