Alec Clydsdale

G'day my name is Alec Clydsdale and I am doing the Stars of Tamworth Dance for Cancer

Some of you on the land might already know me, I'm a stock and station agent working for McCulloch Agencies and have been here since I left school 3 years ago from Farrer High School. That leads me to how I am involved this year! Last year I attended the stars of Tamworth night and watched my mate and work college Oliver Smith compete. I was inspired by what a fantastic initiative to put yourself out there in the hope of achieving funds to change someone's life and a cause that I hold dear, so when the call up came it was something I couldn't knock back!

In July 2016 my grandfather lost his battle with cancer, a former Vietnam veteran and well-respected community figure my life changed in an instant. He got me through high school, my childhood hero, and a big role model. I don't think you can express the pain of a loss of a loved one at 14 but it's something that never fads away. Since then, cancer has perused my family with my mum being diagnosed with breast cancer 1 year later, it doesn't let up. Thankfully she beat it, for it to return in 2021 when she beat it twice and is still here today. There are countless stories of family and friends who are close to me that have had this disease of aren't here now because of it. 

So, getting back to when I got asked it wasn't a choice rather a commitment to family, friends, work colleges, clients who all have all had experiences with this disease and if I can go 5mins on stage in front of family and mates to raise that extra dollar someone needs to see the doctor or access the treatment they need, I'll do it over and over again, wouldn't you?
