Barry Pearson | Disco Dining
Barry is the proud Co-owner of two popular South Coast restaurants, Bóveda in Thirroul and Bar Cabrón in Wollongong, where he works alongside his partner Amy and their friend Andrew. With a culinary background as a chef, Barry transitioned from the kitchen to running his own businesses, though he admits he’s happiest outside the kitchen these days—unless it’s Taco Tuesday at home! He loves the ability to bring new ideas and creative concepts to life, whether through the dishes he serves or the experiences he curates for his guests.
Barry will be dancing this year to celebrate and support his Nan, Lesley. She has inspired him to get involved and use his platform to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Council, with the hope of making a difference. While dancing is well outside his comfort zone—despite Amy’s best efforts to drag him onto the dance floor—Barry’s determination to honor his Nan and his strong sense of community spirit will drive him to bring his very best to the stage.
Fun facts about Barry? He’s the proud father of four kids, has cooked dinner for Barack Obama, and once sustained third-degree burns on his face from a beetroot mishap while training as an apprentice chef! Despite the nerves, Barry’s sense of humor and resilience will no doubt make his dance journey one to remember—especially with his beloved Nan cheering him on.
Barry’s fundraising goal for the event is an impressive $40,000, when you see him on the dance floor, rest assured there’ll be a lot of fun, a few laughs, and a whole lot of heart!
