Privately Practising Midwife | The Nest of Moruya
Clare has been a midwife since 2009 and moved into private practice 5 years ago with her colleagues, creating The Nest of Moruya. Clare visits women in their homes from Milton down to Bega but is on call 24/7, ready to drop everything to attend a birth. Volunteering in nursing and midwifery has taken Clare around the world to Nepal, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Vanuatu and India. Supporting women to find their strength and confidence as new mothers is what gets Clare out of bed in the morning (or at all hours of the night). Clare joined the Stars of Eurobodalla to fundraise cancer support services for her local friends and family accessing rural cancer support. Clare is most nervous about being called to attend a birth the night she’s supposed to take the stage. Although Clare tried ballet when she was 5, the teacher suggested that she try another sport! Clare’s strengths now are her experience making TikTok dance videos with her daughter and that she isn’t afraid to laugh at herself.
Bec is a newcomer to Moruya having moved here from Newcastle in 2020 with her family and Border Collie Tilly. She is 17 and is a Year 11 student at Moruya High School. Her favourite subjects include music, art, and ancient history. Outside of school Bec’s interests include playing the flute and dancing. She dances with Element Cheer and Dance in Moruya and is part of their competition troupe. Alongside school and dance she work part time as a waitress at Moruya Golf Club’s restaurant.
