I am a community advocate, social media influencer, and government project officer with a passion for supporting small businesses, mental health awareness Homelessness, and women’s health advocacy. I’m the founder of Mid North Coast EaTs, connecting over 21,000 followers to local businesses and uplifting community stories.  

I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis, the same condition that caused immense suffering for my Nanna, who passed away from ovarian cancer when I was 15. After giving birth to my second son a routine pap smear revealed pre-cervical cancer, leading me into cancer care treatment. Despite these challenges, I’ve remained passionate about giving back, raising awareness for women’s health initiatives and to learn to love your body and be proud of your journey. 

Dancing for a cause means more to me than just learning steps it's about honouring women like my nan that lost the battle to ovarian cancer, raising awareness for women’s health, and supporting those battling similar challenges. I know firsthand the pain and resilience that comes with fighting endometriosis, pre-cervical cancer, and reproductive health struggles, and I want to use this platform to make a difference. 25 years of suffering, 2 near death moments and 18 surgeries; I want to prove to myself and others we can beat this. 

I’ve spent years fundraising for charities close to my heart and sharing my personal journey and Stars of Hastings is the perfect opportunity to continue that mission in a fun and inspiring way. I want to show others that, no matter what life throws at you, you can keep moving forward one step at a time. 

If my journey can inspire, uplift, and support just one person who’s struggling, then every dance will be worth it. Let’s raise funds, raise awareness, and have an unforgettable time doing it!

My story

Why I'm Dancing – My Story, My Why 🌟

A few weeks ago, I shared that I’ll be dancing in STARS of Hastings to raise funds for the Cancer Council. What I didn’t share then is the real reason why this means so much to me.

My journey with health has been brutal. Raw. Unfair. And until now, I’ve mostly kept it to myself.

Years ago, I survived a misdiagnosed ectopic pregnancy. I was internally bleeding and had to say goodbye to Peter, not knowing if I would make it. I was living in Sydney. The doctor’s mistake nearly cost me my life. I then had pre cervical cancer was the last straw.

By 36, my body had already been through so much. Adenomyosis, PCOS, stage 4 endometriosis, and the loss of a fallopian tube. Both of my beautiful boys were born through IVF, true miracles.

Then I met Dr Ray Hodgson. I call him my angel. Before my surgery, I held his hands and begged him to take out my ovaries. I told him I did not want to die like my nanna Joyce’s of ovarian cancer. That moment changed me. It was the day I was stripped of my womanhood and forced to face a new version of myself.

A few weeks later, I ended up back in hospital. That time, Dr Hodgson and Dr Awad performed surgery after hours and saved my kidney. I had endometriosis in my kidney. Their dedication and care gave me another chance.

Healing took years. Not just the physical scars, but the emotional ones too. No one talks about menopause. No one prepares you for the loneliness, the mental toll, the dark thoughts. I came through the worst of it because helping others became my lifeline.

That is why I am dancing. Not because I have anything fancy to give, but because I want to share my story honestly. I want others to know they are not alone.

Keep going Ellen Your so right I was told my chest pain was anxiety and stress and menopause and 18 months later it was tumors growing. They were removed the next day.
