GREG DAVIES | MARINE RESCUE PORT MACQUARIE
Greg Davies is the Unit Commander of Marine Rescue Port Macquarie, a role he's held since 2018 and one that reflects a lifetime of service. Greg's story is extraordinary. He left home at 16, spent years mustering cattle in the Gulf, then served 26 years in the Australian Army before eventually finding his way to Port Macquarie. He became Training Officer and then Deputy Unit Commander at Marine Rescue before stepping into the top role, bringing with him a commitment to community that has defined his entire life. His Emergency Services Medal is a testament to the dedication he gives to keeping others safe.
In 2025, Greg faced his most personal battle yet, a Stage 3 bowel and rectal cancer diagnosis. After operations and chemotherapy, he has received a clear bill of health. He knows how lucky he is, and that awareness has only deepened his determination to give back. Joining Stars of Hastings is Greg's way of saying thank you, to the Cancer Council, to the medical staff who cared for him, and to everyone who supported him through the fight. He's proof that you can face the toughest challenges and come out dancing.
