JACOB 'JJ' JOLLYMORE | LUNICO CANDLE CO.

Hi, my name is Jacob "JJ" Jollymore and I’m the Scentertainment Director and co-owner of Lunico Candle Co., a candle and home fragrance business I run with my husband (William) here in Port Macquarie.

Before lighting up the candle world, I worked in case management across the homelessness, disability and mental health sectors, driven by a passion for helping people and supporting them to reach their goals. These days, I channel that same warmth and care into my business and the local community in different ways.

Outside of work, I enjoy a healthy dose of reality TV, cheese platters and frozen margaritas for good measure. I’m pretty easy-going, don’t take myself too seriously and while I can absolutely enjoy a dance floor, I’ll admit I’m usually far more comfortable behind the scenes than standing in the spotlight.

Saying yes to something like Stars of Hastings was incredibly daunting for me. I’m much more at home being hands-on with community fundraising, helping organise events, supporting causes quietly in the background and doing the practical work wherever I can. Being the “face” of an event like this feels very outside my comfort zone, but sometimes the causes that matter most ask us to step forward anyway.

Cancer has been a recurring presence throughout my family’s story. Multiple women across generations have undergone hysterectomies due to cervical and ovarian cancers, and in 1999 my grandfather was diagnosed with throat cancer. Thankfully, after an incredibly difficult journey, he survived and is still with us today.

Not long before agreeing to take part in this event, a close friend of mine was also diagnosed with breast cancer. It was another reminder of just how many people are impacted by this disease and how important cancer-specific services and support truly are.

Raising funds and awareness through Stars of Hastings is something I consider an absolute honour. While stepping into the spotlight is intimidating, I’m doing it for the people and families whose lives are forever changed by cancer. Any support, encouragement, or donation would mean the world not just to me, but to the many people these services continue to help every single day.
