Everyone meet Josie!
Josie spent her younger years growing up on property close to Maitland playing with dirt bikes, swimming in our dams & riding horses then moving closer to the beaches of Newcastle. Josie loves to have a boogie on the dance floor although it’s never any good, people say she gets her moves from her Dad… (not a compliment)! She’s always had a passion for helping people & a drive to be able to positively impact people’s lives. That’s why it didn’t surprise anyone when she started her nursing career. 4 years later she’s now a Neonatal nurse & she loves her job & the ability to help our most vulnerable population. That brings her here to Stars of Newcastle. Never in a million years did Josie think cancer could affect me & her family but reality hit when in 2020 when her Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. “After treatment & surgery I’m so blessed to still have him here with us and we thought that would be all but then in October 2022 I lost my beautiful Aunty Loz to colon cancer after her long 2 years battle.
My Dad & my aunty are the reason I’m here, the reason I'm fighting just like they both did.
I’m looking forward in taking this journey with the cancer council, stepping outside my comfort zone and being able to represent and stand with a community that share the same goal.” |
