Justine Curtis

As a senior environmental engineer and scientist at Stantec, I spend my days working with clients to develop the community within a range of sectors including ecotourism, industry, and transport infrastructure. I love that my job allows me to take my passion for the natural world into my work space, where I project manage jobs including mountain bike trail developments while finding engineering solutions to environmental problems.   

With 1 in 2 Australians currently being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, the disease is not something that we can currently avoid being impacted by.  The older I get the more profound Cancer is within family, friends and community. Awareness is a wonderful step towards reducing the impacts and gaining much required funding we can all benefit from. 

While I have past dance experience which I am sure will be beneficial, I think my biggest strength is being an extravert who just loves getting out and giving new things a go while meeting new people. 

Some interesting facts about me is that I was a track and road cyclist with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport. 
I had a 30cm abdominal tumor when I was 21 (thankfully benign), it gave me a new appreciation to medical professionals, people batteling illness, and life itself! 

My husband, Isaac, is my dream dance partner. While his dance groves may not be familiar with the stage, I believe dance is about expressing feelings - whether it being our wedding dance, a late night jive, or a spontaneous boogie in the kitchen to our favorite record, every dance is special and carries a memory.
