The link between physical illness/ disability and mental ill-health is strong and often under-recognized. It has been shown to be a risk factor for suicide in Australia. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the importance of mental health and wellbeing for people with lived experience of serious illness such as cancer. My beautiful mother had leukemia, and I will be dancing for her.
Growing up on the Northern Beaches, the ocean, sunshine, people I love, creativity, kindness and connectedness have been my guide for what makes a good life. Listening deeply, mindfully, and working with and supporting people to nurture a sense of belonging and flourish, lights up my heart. My husband, family, and friends, light up my soul.
