Linda Dewbery is the President of Hastings Valley Netball Association and, by her own admission, someone who has never quite figured out what "spare time" means. By day, she works full-time as a Talent Acquisition Advisor for TAFE NSW, helping people find their path forward. By night and every other waking moment, she's running the netball association as President, publicity officer, sponsorship coordinator, and community-involvement instigator, while also serving on the PMHC Sports Council. On the court, she wears yet another set of hats as a multi-team coach and chief cheerleader for players of every age. She's also the driving force behind special events like Super Netballer and Diamonds clinics, because if it involves netball, Linda is in the thick of it.
Her motivation for taking to the dance floor is deeply personal. Cancer has woven itself through Linda's life in more ways than one. Her mum passed away in 2016 after a courageous 13-year battle with breast cancer, her sister is currently in remission, and a cousin is now beginning her own journey with endometrial cancer. Her dad has faced melanoma, close friends have navigated their own diagnoses, and Linda herself has experienced multiple basal cell carcinomas and the removal of her first melanoma last year. Dancing is Linda's way of honouring those she loves, supporting those still fighting, and giving back to a cause that has touched every corner of her world.
