Lu Nickell

Stars of Coffs Coast 2027

Lu Nickell | Woolgoolga High School

Lu Nickell’s love for Woolgoolga High School is more than skin deep, although the blue seahorse tattoo she got when she became principal is a pretty good clue.

A passionate advocate for public education, Lu has led Woopi High for nearly seven years. Her husband Dallas also teaches there, which means she’s technically his boss at school. At home, they’re parents to three adult children and grandparents to three grandchildren.

Lu makes the most of coastal life through running, surfing, hockey and dancing. For Stars of Coffs Coast, there’s another family connection to enjoy: her daughter Chloe will be her dance teacher. This time, Lu gets to be the student.

Behind the fun is a cause she cares deeply about. Lu has supported loved ones through cancer treatment and lost a dear friend to brain cancer four years ago. She’s seen why continued progress in treatment and support matters.

By taking part, Lu hopes to help Cancer Council NSW keep that progress moving, while bringing her school community, family and friends along for the experience.
