Michael Field usually helps events run smoothly. As an Event Supervisor with C.ex Group, he’s now preparing for a very different role at the venue, taking centre stage himself.
Michael began his hospitality career with C.ex four years ago, building his skills through a traineeship and taking on responsibilities across the club. With venues in Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga and Urunga, C.ex Group brings people together through dining, entertainment, sport and community events.
Originally from the Illawarra, Michael moved to Coffs Harbour with his mum and two brothers around a decade ago. Since then, he’s worked hard on his wellbeing, lost 60 kilograms and moved into a home with his best friend. He’s proud of how far he’s come and ready to give dancing a go.
His reason for joining Stars is close to home. When his brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer, Michael helped raise more than $10,000 towards medical expenses. He saw firsthand how a diagnosis affects the whole family, and how practical support can ease some of the pressure.
Now he’s extending that support to others, raising funds for Cancer Council NSW and bringing C.ex Group’s community spirit onto the dance floor.
