Mike Wilkins | Clayfields Artisan Honey
Mike Wilkins is a proud Hunter Valley local whose life is powered by community, connection, and a genuine desire to make a difference. By day, he works as a Learning & Development Specialist with the Fitness & Lifestyle Group, supporting teams across QLD, NSW and the ACT to grow, lead, and shine in their own right.
When he’s not facilitating leaders or shaping talent, Mike is often found in his bee suit, tending to his thriving business Clayfields Artisan Honey. What began as a personal passion has grown into a boutique honey brand known for its authenticity, sustainability, and pure Hunter-made goodness. His beekeeping journey is woven with equal parts laughter, learning, and love for the land, and, of course, a fair few stings along the way.
Mike also proudly volunteers as a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Rothbury Rural Fire Service, supporting local initiatives, events, and community preparedness. Giving back is stitched into the fabric of who he is, and stepping onto the Stars of the Hunter stage is simply another way he hopes to make a meaningful impact.
This year, Mike is swapping the bees for ballroom shoes and the fire truck for the spotlight, all to raise vital funds for the Cancer Council. With a heart for service and a passion for helping others feel seen and supported, Mike is ready to dance for a cause that touches every family in Australia.
“For me, taking part in Stars of the Hunter is all about community. Living in the Hunter means being part of something bigger than yourself, a place where neighbours step up, strangers become mates, and we rally for each other when it matters most.
Cancer has touched several people in my own circles: colleagues, community members at Rothbury RFS, friends, and families connected through the beekeeping and fitness communities. Watching people you care about fight this disease, and seeing the ripple effect it has on their loved ones, changes you. It reminds you how important it is to show up, to contribute, and to do whatever you can to support those facing their toughest days.
Dancing might be well outside my comfort zone, but supporting the Cancer Council isn’t. If stepping onto that stage helps raise funds, drives awareness, and honours the people in our region who are living through or have lived through a cancer journey, then every step is worth it.
I’m doing this for them, for our community, our families, and everyone who deserves hope, support, and a fighting chance
