Nikki Morris

Nikki is a dedicated Teacher at Bomaderry Community Preschool, where she’s worked for 16 years and has been an educator in the Shoalhaven for over 27 years. She loves her job of inspiring and educating the next generation of children. Nikki will often spend her days at preschool, singing, dancing, and engaging the children in the creative arts, while teaching children about the world around them. Nikki is passionate about using the arts to support children's well-being. Nikki's other passion lies in the importance of sharing her Indigenous heritage and teaches the children about the importance of caring for and respecting country. 

Cancer has touched her life in a very personal way, and Nikki knows the profound impact it has. She is participating in the Stars of Nowra in memory of her loved ones that have been touched by cancer – this includes her grandmother Joan and her beautiful cousin Daena who have since passed, and her Mum who is currently going through her own cancer journey. Her mum has always been passionate about supporting the Cancer Council and even encouraged Nikki to take part in this event years ago. While initially hesitant, Nikki decided to step up and dance, knowing it would be a powerful way to support the cause that means so much to her family and others affected by cancer. 

While Nikki enjoys dancing for fun, she admits to feeling nervous about performing on stage. Her go-to jam is “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman, with Pink as her favourite artist. Beyond this, Nikki is a basketball mum and wife, and founded the Empower Me Program, a youth mentoring program, aimed at promoting connection, kindness, self-esteem, and resilience in children across the Shoalhaven. She’s ready to honour her mum’s wishes and make a difference through this special event.
