Sarah Smith

Stars of Casino 2024

In 2015 Sarah was offered the opportunity to go into Partnership with her Bosses at the time and purchase Lismore Toyota. This was a dream come true for her as not only had she always dreamt of owning and running her own Dealership, but the Northern Rivers was somewhere she had always wanted to live.

In 2016 she relocated from the Gold Coast and has been proud to call Casino home ever since.

Following a Pituitary Tumour diagnosis in 2021 she decided to sell her share of the Business and is now enjoying spending time with her beautiful family.

Unfortunately, it seems that, in some form, Cancer touches the lives of all of us. Whether it be a family member, or friend, or oneself. Sarah has lost a number of friends and family to cancer and also witnessed the suffering of many more who have successfully fought and won. She has also seen first hand how the amazing work of Cancer Council positively impacts the lives of not only cancer patients but also their loved ones.

Having been diagnosed with a pituitary tumour and experiencing the trauma of being told that without treatment she had very limited life expectancy, and also experiencing the impacts of multiple surgeries, radiation, ongoing medication, and everything else involved in overcoming a deadly disease, she can attest that the work carried out, and support given, by the Cancer Council is so badly needed.

She is proud to have been offered the opportunity to help raise funds for such a worthy cause with being involved in Casino Stars 2024.

My Updates

As many of you know, 3 years ago I got diagnosed with a Pituitary Tumour (non-cancerous but nevertheless life threatening). To be told that without Treatment I had a life expectancy of around 5 years, and around a 60% chance of surviving Surgery, was one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through.

Knowing that my daughter, who was 7 at the time, could have had to have grown up without her Mum was incredibly difficult to deal with.

But here we are, 3 years later, thanks to multiple surgeries, medication and Radiation, (All treatments that would not be possible without the research and work of organisations such as the Cancer Council) I am in Chemical remission and in a position to do something to “give back”.

I will be pairing up with the Legendary Kate Dennis who is going to have her work cut out teaching me to dance over the course of the next 12 weeks, attempting to turn this 90’s Disco groover into something that resembles someone that can actually dance.
