Terri Lofgren

Originally from Queensland, Terri came to beautiful Ballina in 2010 for a holiday and stayed for the lifestyle. After testing out other fitness facilities, Terri joined Curves Ballina as in 2015 because she had heard that were like a "local family to the new women in the area".  But she also saw that Curves Ballina loved to help the Northern Rivers Area with their many fundraising events, especially for the local Cancer Council.

When she joined Curves, Terri's health issues, that forced her early retirement, improved immensely. And she quickly realised her regular strength training workouts made a huge difference with her physical and mental health but equally as important, her social health. Knowing very few local people, Terri began a coffee chat group after her gym sessions which incidentally has escalated over the years allowing strong friendships to evolve whilst supporting our local cafes and barista's. Terri now has many local friends and enjoys a busy social life within our Curves & Ballina community.

Fast forward to January 2023, when Terri's enthusiasm as a "Curvette" caught the eye of owner, Maxene, her life as a coach began.

Being part of team, Terri quickly understood the impact that Curves Ballina has had over the last 19 years within our local community. Founder of Curves International (1992), Gary Haevin was a very religious man and as part of his Franchise he had hoped that all owners/members involved would always take pride in their contribution to their community health.

Terri loves to dance! She is seen at the local Cherry Street Sports club every week doing the dance she loves best. And when approached to partake in this "Stars of Ballina Dance for Cancer", she never hesitated.

Sadly, Terri has endured many encounters of cancer in her inner circle. She lost her best friend Sam, along with too many relatives but she is thrilled to be living with many close survivors in her life, especially her husband George, her "Boss" Suzie B and her "paypal" Maxene McVie (Curves Ballina Owner).

Terri said “I pray that we can find a cure in my lifetime. I don’t want my grandchildren to have to deal with this. “

In light of all the losses we have all endured, Terri and Curves Ballina are eager to continue to contribute to the Cancer Council's mission of raising awareness & promoting prevention strategies.
