Tiga Cross | Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary
Tiga Cross is used to working with dolphins, sea turtles and the occasional unpredictable wildlife rescue. Learning choreography might be a different kind of challenge.
As Managing Director of Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, Tiga leads a team dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, conservation and education. Her connection to the sanctuary began with teenage work experience at the former Pet Porpoise Pool. Years later, when the facility faced permanent closure, she and her family helped save it and establish its future as a not-for-profit sanctuary.
A conservationist, educator, wife and mum, Tiga shares her life with husband Brian and daughter Akira. She’s passionate about creating opportunities for young people and helping establish a wildlife hospital for the Mid North Coast.
Her connection to cancer comes from an unusual perspective. Tiga has been involved in two cancer-removal surgeries on dolphins and has seen the distress a cancer diagnosis brings to those caring for a much-loved animal. Those experiences have deepened her interest in cancer research and the need for better treatments.
Now she’s bringing that same determination to Stars of Coffs Coast, raising funds for Cancer Council NSW and embracing a challenge well outside her usual habitat.
