Yvonne Walker is the Founder and Principal of HR with ease, where she supports employers across a wide range of industries with all aspects of people management — the good, the challenging, and everything in between. Resilient, resourceful, and results oriented, Yvonne is known for considering every angle, ensuring fairness, and balancing people’s needs with the realities of running a business. Variety is one of her favourite parts of the job, but problem solving is where she truly shines — especially when she can help employers navigate tricky situations with clarity and confidence.
With more than 30 years of HR experience, Yvonne has worked across a range of industries including manufacturing, professional services, health, logistics, and community services. Her consultancy specialises in performance and conduct management, HR risk, compliance, recruitment, and people problem solving — delivered with her signature practical approach. She is deeply community minded, currently serving as Vice President of The Illawarra Connection, the region’s leading business leadership network, and the Illawarra Legal Centre. She spent four years on the local Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal Committee and also volunteered for Dress for Success Sydney – Illawarra for over seven years, including time on the Management Committee. More recently she was involved in sorting books for Lifeline's Big Book Fair on a weekly basis.
Yvonne has thought about joining Stars of Wollongong – Dance for Cancer for a while. After watching friends take part — and seeing the joy, impact, and community spirit — she decided this was the year. She also has deeply personal reasons for supporting cancer fundraising, which she looks forward to sharing through the campaign.
Determination is her biggest strength (linked, she says, to a healthy fear of failure). She’s most nervous about forgetting her choreography and not meeting her fundraising goals — but she’s committed to practising hard and rallying her community. Her dance background includes rhythm from years of playing the piano, an almost-ancient exposure to physical culture, aerobics routines, and freestyle confidence… plus a mean Nutbush.
Fun Facts About Yvonne
She has three tattoos, including an iris for her late grandmother, (perhaps unsurprisingly) Iris.
She has four cats — yes, she’s heard the “crazy cat lady” jokes.
As a Gemini, she balances a serious side with a surprising wild streak.
Her dream dance partner? Hugh Jackman (the why is obvious).
Her fundraising plans? A trivia night, a high tea, and a donor recognition page on her website — fun, social, and full of heart.
