COURTNEY BOLCH | RADIATION THERAPIST & DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER

At just 27, Courtney has already dedicated her life to helping others. A Radiation Therapist and long-time Disability Support Worker, she spends her days supporting people through some of life's toughest challenges with compassion, empathy and care. Happily married and sharing her home with two giant dogs, she is known for always being on the move, whether that's dancing, gardening, cross-stitching or lending a helping hand to someone in need.

Giving back has always been part of who she is. A former Treasurer of the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT), she has been passionate about advocating for patient-centred care and supporting both patients and fellow health professionals. Having grown up surrounded by organisations such as Camp Quality and Canteen, she understands firsthand the impact community support can have during difficult times.

When asked to take part in Stars of Newcastle, saying yes was easy. Cancer has shaped her life from a very young age, beginning with her brother's diagnosis with a medulloblastoma at just five years old. Given only six months to live, he defied the odds and will celebrate his 31st birthday this year. Watching her family navigate that journey, and now working alongside people undergoing cancer treatment every day, has given her a deep appreciation for the role Cancer Council plays in helping patients and families through some of their hardest moments.

For her, Stars is more than a dance competition. It's an opportunity to combine her love of dancing with her passion for raising awareness, supporting patients and working towards a future free from cancer.
