David Griffin

David is a passionate chef, entrepreneur and hospitality leader who has helped shape Newcastle's vibrant food scene for many years. Best known as the former chef of Subo and co-founder of Bao Brothers, David has built a career around creating memorable dining experiences and bringing people together through great food.

Today, David works as Area Manager and Head of Product Development at House of Roast, while also serving as Culinary Director at Miine Newcastle. With a love of travel, music, hospitality and business, he is constantly looking for new ways to innovate, create and connect with people.

Away from the kitchen, David is a proud dad to his young family and partner to Triin Johanson from Base X Nails. Family is at the centre of everything he does and one of the key reasons he wanted to be involved in Stars of Newcastle.

For David, the cause is deeply personal. His father bravely battled and beat cancer twice and is now in remission, while his mother is currently undergoing treatment for melanoma. Witnessing the impact cancer has had on his family has strengthened his desire to give back and support others facing similar challenges.

When asked to take part in Stars of Newcastle, David saw it as an opportunity to support an incredible cause, connect with the community and use his extensive local network to help raise vital funds for Cancer Council. Driven by passion, determination and a genuine desire to make a difference, he's ready to step outside the kitchen and onto the dance floor for a cause that means so much to him.
