Meet Al Shield, Radio Announcer for Triple M The Border
Born on the famous day when the Irish like to drink green
beer, Al was a city kid out of Richmond, VIC. After school, Al thought he would
try his hand (and voice) in radio which worked so well, he is still
broadcasting daily more than two decades later having worked in stations in
Victoria, Queensland and now New South Wales.
Married with two kids, a loveable dog and a cat with the sole purpose of
ruining his sleep - outside of radio, Al is a blogger, author and occasional
YouTuber. He also enjoys cooking, yelling at his problematic 3d Printer, cars
in general, home brewing and video games.
As a radio host, Al is no stranger to speaking up for causes close to his heart, and cancer awareness is one of the most important. Al has seen the effects of cancer on his friends and family, which is why he’s committed to raising $5,000 for Cancer Council. Through his work in media, he’s participated in many fundraising events, but now it’s Al’s turn to step out of the spotlight and on to the dance floor. 📻💃
“Even while I have the dancing abilities of an off balance cement mixer, I realize it's not about my dance prowess or lack thereof but doing something out of my comfort zone (and something that will be fun) to continue to raise both awareness and funding for the Cancer Council and the amazing work that they do.” – Al Shield
Go you good thing!
