Bella Evans
I have half coastie, half country blood and was born into the BEST family in the world (unbiased of course). Raised on the Central Coast, I’ve also spent much of my life feeding cattle on a farm in Kempsey and reporting on floods, fire and drought out in Tamworth. I resented maths in school and quickly discovered I much preferred words over numbers, so when it came to Uni - journalism was the obvious choice. After studying in Newcastle, I snagged a gig out in the North West, where I worked for over three years. I moved to Newy in 2021 and have been here ever since - reporting and producing for NBN. There’s something about that ocean air!
I love cats (especially my ragdoll, Boots)... and yes I also love dogs. I also enjoy a good glass of wine (or three), counting down to a holiday, an enthralling book, hot choccy and spending time with the people I love!
We lose too many beautiful people to cancer. It’s a monster of a disease and the statistics are scary. One of my closest friends lost her mum to cancer a few years ago - she left four kids behind. My brother lost a mate last year… he was 18 and had his whole life ahead of him. It’s heartbreaking how many of us have been affected by cancer… it doesn’t discriminate and anyone’s life can be turned upside down in an instant. So, when I got the opportunity to help a wonderful charity to kick this disease in the bum… how could I say no? To play a small role in the mission to find a cure is an absolute honour and privilege.
