Kate Johnson

Born and raised in Newcastle, I live with my partner of 19 years and our 12 year old son. I love playing cricket, coaching my sons soccer team and I am passionate about my community. I spend most weekends at local markets having conversations around mental health and suicide prevention. I believe that everyone should be able to access mental health supports. I myself have lived experience of suicide, live with mental illness and am 4 years sober. I share my story to empower others to know they are worth it and that recovery is possible. 

I am taking part in Stars not only to raise money for such a great cause and support my community but to also raise awareness around mental health and suicide prevention and to let people know they are not alone and that given the right supports we can not just survive but thrive.
