Paul “Bluey” McDermott is a proud Ballina local, devoted family man and well-known face within the Cherry Street Sports community. Whether he’s behind the bar sharing a laugh with members, volunteering at community events, or stepping into the role of Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny to bring smiles to local families, Bluey is always willing to lend a hand.
Outside of work, Bluey enjoys boxing, rugby league and spending quality time with his family. He believes strongly in the importance of community and is passionate about giving back to the people who have supported him throughout his life.
Now, Bluey is taking on a brand new challenge as a participant in the Cancer Council Ballina STARS fundraising campaign. With his trademark sense of humour, generous spirit and determination, he’s stepping well outside his comfort zone to help raise vital funds for those affected by cancer.
Every dollar raised will help support Cancer Council’s life changing research, prevention programs and support services, making a real difference to families across our community.
