1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That statistic alone is enough reason for me to trade my dignity for a pair of dance shoes.
I’m no dancer! In fact, the thought of being on stage doing something I know I’m not good at is genuinely terrifying. But that fear is nothing compared to what I’ve watched friends and family go through when they hear the words, “you have cancer.” I lost a very close friend at just 38, and it’s a pain and memory that never truly leaves you.
I am constantly inspired by the courage, strength, and resilience of those around me who have faced this awful disease. One of the hardest parts is feeling powerless, like you can’t stop it from happening to the people you love. But contributing to the fight against cancer is something I can do.
So here I am: dancing, sweating, tripping, shimmying, and probably crying! All to help raise funds for vital research, prevention programs, and support services for people affected by cancer.
If you’re able to donate, any amount truly helps. Even the cost of your morning coffee can make a meaningful difference.
