At a young age the studio became Amy’s second home, and she always knew she would become a dance teacher. Amy attended Macdonald College Performing Arts School and began full time dancing in Sydney, performing at various professional events in Commercial Jazz and Contemporary dance.
Amy continued her studies in London and then returned home to the Shoalhaven to start her career as a dance teacher. Amy is now Managing Director of Your Talent Team and has been involved in Stars of Nowra since its inception. Amy loves sharing her passion of dance through Stars of Nowra and hopes the event will increase community awareness and raise much needed funds.
Kate has been ballroom dancing since the age of 8 and has completed ballroom dancing Oscars in Latin American, Modern and New Vogue styles through the Reeve Wallace School of Dance, as well as HSC dance.
She is involved in musical theatre as a dancer and choreographer with the Albatross Musical Theatre Company and Nowra Players. This is the second time Kate has been involved in Stars of Nowra, and having had a number of friends and family members fight cancer, she recognises how important it is to have access to support services.
She is also thrilled to be dancing with her best friend Jemma Tribe!
Hip Hop enthusiast, Jordan, began dancing at the youthful age of 4. He participated in Stars of Nowra last year and is really looking forward to doing it all again this year. In addition, Jordan has a personal motivation for participating as well. His Pop has battled Bowel Cancer, and he says this is what motivates him to be a better dancer and enjoy every second of life.
Jordan enjoys expressing himself through dance and is looking forward to putting on a great performance this year with his Star and being able to raise awareness for the cause.
New kid on the block Maddy is a Cheerleader at heart. She has experience in gymnastics, dancing and Cheerleading, where her strongest skills lie in stunting and the dance aspect of Cheerleading. Maddy is a Cheerleading coach at the Shoalhaven Cheer Academy and loves seeing the progression, passion and dedication the students have, along with the friendships that form within teams. Maddy has heard all about Stars of Nowra and is looking forward to contributing to the cause and immersing herself in a brand new experience.
Scott has a diverse repertoire of skills in his toolbox. He spent his childhood figure skating, before leaving school and starting Jazz. Scott then went on to study performance and musical theatre at Perform Australia. He loves the freedom of movement and the sensation of energy that is gained through dance and can’t wait to be in Stars of Nowra. Scott is looking forward to a fun night and raising money for a worthy cause.
Rachael is an old hand at Stars of Nowra, with this year being her 4th year! Rachael’s love for dance is infectious, she started dancing when she was 3 years old and has never stopped. For the past 8 years she has been sharing her love for dance through teaching in the local community. Rachael thoroughly enjoys how dancing makes her feel and loves watching her students grow and develop to express themselves through movement. Her favourite dance styles are Ballet and Hip Hop and she is looking forward to pushing her Star beyond their limits and being involved in a community event.
Asmara has many notches in her belt for a teen, she began dancing at 6 years old with Physie and Calisthenics, but for the past 3 years has moved across to Your Talent Team where she dances a broad range of styles. Asmara loves the freedom dancing brings her and the ability to tell a story, especially with Lyrical and Modern Contemporary dance. She participated in Stars of Nowra last year and just loved watching her Star grow and doing it all for an amazing cause.
Imogen is a local dancing hero! She has danced at Danceworks Nowra and later joined Albatross Musical Theatre Company and has performed in all their big productions such as, Wicked. As if that wasn’t enough, she has also choreographed their junior productions. This is Imogen’s second year with Stars of Nowra and is very grateful to have the opportunity to use her performing skills for a good cause.
This is Tenneil’s third year performing in Stars of Nowra and she feels honoured to contribute to a cause that gives hope for the future. She has been passionate about dancing for most of her life, she not only loves to perform but loves to teach. Tenneil enjoys watching her students grow in confidence, appreciate dance, have fun and most of all feel comfortable in class.
Melinda has a wealth of experience in teaching dance. She has taught in private studios as well as with the Department of Education. Her favourite styles are Tap, Jazz and Lyrical but she’s keen to do any style that gets the audience involved. Melinda loves the freedom dance gives your mind and body, to her nothing beats being lost in the music and performing. She was involved in Stars of Nowra last year and loved seeing the enjoyment it brought and supporting a worthy cause. Melinda is looking forward to working with her partner to create a performance they’re proud of, so they can achieve something special and benefit those in need.
Stephanie is the definition of Stars of Nowra! She has been part of it since its inception, with this being her 5th year! Stephanie works her dream job at Your Talent Team, specialising in Hip Hop and Jazz. The years haven’t diminished her devotion, she still has a strong passion for dance and is keen to raise money and awareness with her Star and tear up the dancefloor.
This is Melody’s third year with Stars of Nowra and she is beaming with ideas! She is looking forward to helping raise money, meeting new people and transforming her Star into character. Melody started dancing as a child at 3 years of age. Since then she has had experience with Southern Stars, Touring Ensemble, Nowra Players and Albatross Musical Theatre Company. Her favourite thing about dancing, in particular Contemporary, is learning new things, expressing herself and putting on that all important great performance!
